$15,485 away from a new machine
We have 175+ miles of trails in our area, built by volunteers. They need a new machine.
They didn’t build those trails with hand tools alone. We have two mini skid steer machines that have done great work over the last 20 years hauling rock, timbers and dirt to create a lot of the features and trails you love.
But it’s time to get a new machine. Old equipment doesn’t just break down. It burns up volunteer time, waiting on repairs, making three trips where a new machine could make one.
The first bit of good news is that Doosan Bobcat recently awarded us a $20,000 Environmental Preservation Grant towards a new machine! It’s an awesome start.
We also squeezed discounts and trade in on the old machine, to get us two thirds of the way to our goal before asking anyone for a dollar.
So we need $15,485 to meet our goal.
What your donation gets us is a multiplier for our volunteers’ work. The new machine:
- Moves roughly twice the material
- Travels more than 2.5x faster
This means more trails, more features, faster repairs after storms. It lowers our maintenance costs and lets the same crew get more done on a work day. And it helps us to do this for years to come.
(See more pics and videos of the machine here)
A reminder that Tarheel Trailblazers is a registered 501(c)(3) (EIN: 56-2039607). Your donation is tax-deductible, and we can also accept gifts from Donor Advised Funds!
Thanks for riding with us, and giving us your support to keep building on the legacy built over the last 35 years.

P.S. If you can’t give right now, forward this to someone who rides. And if you’d rather give a Saturday than a check, our work days are open to anyone!
