Fisher Farm Park
Distance: 6 mi Elevation Gain: 550 ft Est. Time: 20-30 main loop. About 1 hour for everything. Difficulty: Advanced
Old-school, rooty singletrack with "new school" flair. A beginner-friendly Main Loop links several blue and black options with fun rock gardens, skinnies and ravines for riders who want more.
Fisher Farm is a 200-acre park run by the Town of Davidson on a former farm, with open meadows, woods and the West Branch of the Rocky River. The trails are built and maintained by Tarheel Trailblazers.
The riding is classic "old school" Piedmont singletrack: tight, twisty and rooty, with few flat sections. The trail system sits on a hillside that drops from the parking lot at the north end of the park to the low-lying woods in the south, so you are nearly always climbing or descending.
The green Main Loop starts behind the kiosk at the parking lot. It opens with a fast downhill, winds through a rooty lower section and finishes with a climb back to the lot. From it, you can add blue loops (Old Blue, Thunder Road and Enchanted Forest) and black options (Wild Hare, Sullivan's Waltz). Expect rock gardens, rock slabs, log skinnies, ladder bridges and log piles. Most features are optional, and the black diamond Rock Rumble rock garden has easier lines.
Fisher Farm is shared with walkers, runners and dogs, so ride in control and be ready to yield.
If you want jumps, and an additional black single track option called Twisted Sister, Cedar Valley Bike Park's flow and jump lines are right next door across the park off the Allison Farm Access Road (see its own trail page).

Details & Logistics
Main Parking Lot (end of the gravel drive, by the trailhead kiosk)
21215 Shearer Rd, Davidson, NC 28036
Turn in at the Fisher Farm Park sign and follow the long gravel drive past the old farm buildings to the gravel lot at the end. The drive is dusty and has sharp gravel, so take it slowly. The trailhead kiosk and restroom building are at the lot. The Main Loop starts on the east side of the lot, behind the kiosk.
Get DirectionsPark is open dawn to dusk. Trails close after rain, so check the trail status before you go.
Class 1 e-bikes are allowed on trails. Class 1 means bikes that only provide electric assistance when pedaling, don’t have a throttle and don't provide assistance over 20mph. Any bike with a throttle or that can provide electric assistance over 20mph is not allowed on trails because of the safety risk to other trail users, and the hard to repair trail damage they cause.
Trails close after rain, usually for about 24 hours. Check the status before you go. Roots, wooden bridges and Sullivan's Waltz get slick when damp, and the ravines on Wild Hare hold water after rain. Spring and fall are the most popular seasons. The park is also used for cross-country running, so weekends can be busy.
Start the Main Loop behind the kiosk and follow it downhill. The blue and black trails branch off the Main Loop and rejoin it, so you can add or skip them as you go. The trails are shared with walkers, runners and dogs. Ride in control, call out when passing and yield to other users.
Park closes at dusk so no night riding.
Water fountains at the restroom building. Food, coffee and shops in downtown Davidson, about 3 miles away. Cedar Valley Bike Park is next door if you want to add jump lines to your ride or the Twisted Sister single track trail. Nearest bike shop in between Davidson and Cornelius.
Restroom building at the main parking lot, with water fountains. Open dawn to dusk.
Trail Segments
Main Loop
Start here. The loop begins on the east side of the parking lot behind the kiosk, with a fast, fun downhill. It winds through a rooty lower section and finishes with a climb back to the lot. Just before the Reservoir Loop turn there is a sharp switchback and a climb over rocks and roots that newer riders may want to walk.
Reservoir Loop
A short option on the way back to the lot. Keep left for a longer, slightly more technical climb back to the kiosk.
Old Blue
The left option at the first intersection on the Main Loop, after the opening downhill. A gentle climb leads to a short loop through a clearing, then a descent with two rock features, a log pile and tight trees before rejoining the Main Loop.
Thunder Road
The additional blue option, reached by keeping left where Old Blue splits. It includes bridges, a ladder bridge, rock slabs and rock gardens. The optional black diamond Rock Rumble rock garden has easier lines. The trail rejoins the Main Loop on the fastest section, with whoops in the clearing.
Enchanted Forest
Keep right at the first intersection in the lower section of the main loop, after the trail re-enters the woods. Twisty, rooty singletrack that rejoins the Main Loop.
Wild Hare
Entered by an optional log skinny after Enchanted Forest rejoins the Main Loop. The most technical and rooty part of the main system: ravine skinnies, tough rooty climbs and log piles. Very hard to ride clean when wet.
Sullivan's Waltz
A short black option with a jump and a ladder bridge.
First Timer Tips
- Start on the Main Loop behind the kiosk. Every other trail branches off it and comes back, so it's hard to get lost.
- Expect roots everywhere. Fisher Farm is old-school singletrack, so keep your weight back and your speed in check.
- The opening downhill is fast. Look ahead, as you may meet walkers or dogs.
- All blue and black features are optional. Rock Rumble has easier lines, and it's fine to walk anything you're not sure about.
- Save Wild Hare and Sullivan's Waltz for dry days. They can be very slick when wet.
- Share the trail. Walkers, runners and dogs use the park, so slow down, say hello and pass with care.
- Check the trail status before you drive. Trails close after rain.
- Want jumps? Cedar Valley Bike Park is right next door. Also has the challenging Twisted Sister single track trail.
